The Cailleach, the Winter Hag is a powerful and significant spiritual figure in Celtic culture. Cailleach literally translates to old woman but she is also known as Beira, the Queen of Winter in Scotland. She was believed to have shaped the landscape of Scotland and Ireland and brings cooler weather, storms and ultimately winter in her wake. The Cailleach rules the colder, darker months of the year beginning in Samhain and ending on Beltane (Bealltainn) in the spring when she passes the torch over to the goddess Brigid who rules the warmer, brighter months of the year.

This special soap has sa perfectly balance combination of skin-nourishing butters and oils. It’s swirled design (unique to each bar) of charcoal and indigo powder represent the tumultuous nature of the storms associated with The Cailleach. Essential oils of pine, rosemary, peppermint, cedar and copaiba weee chosen to mimic the crisp, cold air of a winters day. let this soap connect you to the divine hag and may her wisdom and help you through the dark half of the year.

Ingredients: Olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, sweet almond oil, castor oil, sodium hydroxide (lye), distilled water, kaolin clay, indigo powder, activated charcoal, essential oils of pine needle, peppermint, rosemary, cedarwood & copaiba. Topped with Dead Sea salt.

What is Cold Process Soap?

Cold process soap is made from scratch with lye and oils, giving full control over every ingredient, but it requires lye safety precautions and a 4–6 week cure before the bars are ready while melt and pour soap is pre-made soap base that is melted, customized, re-molded and is ready to use the same day.

Unlike melt and pour, which relies on a pre-made commercial base, cold process lets the maker hand-select skin-nourishing oils, customize fatty acid profiles, and avoid synthetic detergents or extra surfactants often baked into commercial bases. it requires careful calculation and measuring of every ingredient to make a successful batch.

Cold process soap makes for a harder, denser bar that lasts longer in the shower.
