These bars are still curing and will be ready to ship 11/17.

The Longest Night Yule soap is Inspired by the Northern Hemisphere’s Winter Solstice and Yule festivities that celebrate the return of light and the symbolic rebirth of the sun.

Made with all natural ingredients. Scented with Cedarwood, cinnamon, frankincense, patchouli and pine needle essential oils

100% pure pine tar and activated charcoal represent the dark of the night and the small flame in the middle of the bar represents the Yule Fire and the return of the sun and was created using oil infusions of Annatto seed (yellow) and rhubarb root (red).

Ingredients

A brief history of pine tar.

Pine tar has been used for thousands of years in many applications including skin care as it offers antipruritic (anti-itch), anti‐inflammatory and anti-fungal properties that help soothe irritated skin.

Its production is believed to date back to as early as early as 540–380 BCE with the Vikings who used the viscous liquid to seal their ships, churches and structures.

On its own, pine tar has a very distinct woodsy, resinous aroma but I decided to add cedar, pine, juniper and frankincense essential oils to bring out the top notes just a bit more. To me, it’s reminiscent of a piney Vetiver which is one of my favorite essential oils.

Ingredients: Olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, shea butter, sweet almond oil, castor oil, sodium lactate, sodium hydroxide (lye), pine tar, activated charcoal, rhubarb root, madder root, annatto seed, essential oils of pine needle, frankincense, cassia, rosemary, eucalyptus, juniper berry, patchouli, & cedar.

Approximately 5 oz.

What is Cold Process Soap?

Cold process soap is made from scratch with lye and oils, giving full control over every ingredient, but it requires lye safety precautions and a 4–6 week cure before the bars are ready while melt and pour soap is pre-made soap base that is melted, customized, re-molded and is ready to use the same day.

Unlike melt and pour, which relies on a pre-made commercial base, cold process lets the maker hand-select skin-nourishing oils, customize fatty acid profiles, and avoid synthetic detergents or extra surfactants often baked into commercial bases. it requires careful calculation and measuring of every ingredient to make a successful batch.

Cold process soap makes for a harder, denser bar that lasts longer in the shower.
