Season of the Witch ~ Rhubarb & Indigo with raw honey, geranium, clary sage, lavender and rosemary • Palm Oil Free (Pre-Order)
These bars are still curing and will be ready to ship on 9/26
Season of the Witch is a soap I was planning for a long time, experimenting with natural colorants to get a purple hue. When I finally found rhubarb root, I knew I would be able to accomplish the purple I was looking for but I would have to mix it with a little bit of blue, in this case, natural indigo powder.
I tested three soaps before achieving this purple and I’m very pleased with the results but of course, I’m sure I will be tweaking the recipe even more down the line to experiment with different hues and shades of purple.
In folk magic, rhubarb is used in spells and sachets to draw love, fidelity, and protection. I added clary sage as it represents clarity, inner vision, and spiritual insight and lavender for peace, purification and love. Rosemary is for protection and remembrance and grounding patchouli and cedarwood give the scent profile a slightly woody base. The soap is topped with a coarse black salt for protection.
If you’re interested in seeing a video where I make this very soap, check out my instagram account @the_wildcauldron. its fun to watch because rhubarb root changes color when it comes in contact with lye…it’s truly magical!

What is Cold Process Soap?
Cold process soap is made from scratch with lye and oils, giving full control over every ingredient, but it requires lye safety precautions and a 4–6 week cure before the bars are ready while melt and pour soap is pre-made soap base that is melted, customized, re-molded and is ready to use the same day.
Unlike melt and pour, which relies on a pre-made commercial base, cold process lets the maker hand-select skin-nourishing oils, customize fatty acid profiles, and avoid synthetic detergents or extra surfactants often baked into commercial bases. it requires careful calculation and measuring of every ingredient to make a successful batch.
Cold process soap makes for a harder, denser bar that lasts longer in the shower.
