Samhain Ritual Soap - All Natural, Palm Oil Free

Samhain was brewed to honor the Celtic festival that celebrates the beginning of the dark half of the year with fires, feasts and folklore. It is herbal infused using various plants that have their own symbolic significance associated with the sacred festival of Samhain. The yellow color of the soap (the flames) comes from turmeric, orange peel powder and yellow clay while madder root and alkanet root make up the reds in the heart of the flame. Activated charcoal colors the top of the soap, representing the night sky.

A Very Short History of Samhain

Samhain is a sacred, ancient Gaelic tradition that celebrates the transition from the light half of the year to the dark which is tied to the cycles of life wherein the spring and summer represent renewal and abundance and the fall and winter represent a slowing down, resting and eventually death. Samhain is believed to be a time when the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest which allows for opportunities to communicate with ancestors and spirits but it was believed that not only could your benevolent sprits come through but evil ones as well hence the Samhain Fire which was lit to keep the malevolent spirits at bay. The fire or Balefire was accompanied by freshly harvested bundles of herbs such as rosemary, sage, thyme etc being burned in the fires or hung over thresholds and above hearths for protection. Mugwort and rosemary are revered for their ability to connect the living with the dead through dreamwork and various divination rituals.

What is Cold Process Soap?

Cold process soap is made from scratch with lye and oils, giving full control over every ingredient, but it requires lye safety precautions and a 4–6 week cure before the bars are ready while melt and pour soap is pre-made soap base that is melted, customized, re-molded and is ready to use the same day.

Unlike melt and pour, which relies on a pre-made commercial base, cold process lets the maker hand-select skin-nourishing oils, customize fatty acid profiles, and avoid synthetic detergents or extra surfactants often baked into commercial bases. it requires careful calculation and measuring of every ingredient to make a successful batch.

Cold process soap makes for a harder, denser bar that lasts longer in the shower.

Full ingredients list

Saponified Organic Virgin Coconut oil infused with Mugwort, Damiana, Sage, Verbena, Chamomile, Calendula, Rosemary. Plant based colorants include: Yellow Clay, Activated Charcoal, Madder Root, Alkanet Root and Orange Peel Powder, distilled moon water, essential oils of Rosemary, Cedarwood, Clove bud, Patchouli, Sweet Orange, Litsea Cubeba.

Please note that the colorants may show up in the lather of the soap but will wash off of skin but please use caution with items that can be stained such as light-colored wash cloths or towels.

How to use: Do a patch test before applying all over the body. Apply to wet skin with warm water and lather up then rinse completely off with water.

Warning: Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with eyes. If skin irritation occurs, discontinue use.
